American inventor Danny Hillis of The Long Now Foundation explains how the idea originated to build an solar clock in the middle of the desert that is designed to last for millennia.

The full scale 10,000 Year Clock is now being machined and assembled in California and Seattle. It’s going to be built 500 feet down into a Texan mountain, to protect it from any sort of surface cataclysm or weather erosion. Watch the video below.
