Lindsay Scallan thought her new Canon PowerShot digital camera (in a waterproof case) was gone for ever, along with her vacation pictures, when she lost it in a night dive off the coast of Maui, Hawaii in 2007.

Six years later, the camera was found thousands of miles away in Taiwan by a China Airlines employee. He was able to recover the pictures from the memory card and post them on Hawaii News Now Facebook page. Lindsay’s friend recognized her from the pictures that were posted on the Facebook Page.

The China Airlines has offered a free round-trip ticket to Taiwan to be reunited with her camera, but she isn’t sure if she can take time off from work since she just started a new job a week ago.

The world’s first Barbie-themed restaurant has opened in Taiwan for fans of the iconic doll, one of the busiest shopping districts in the capital, Taipei.

The cafe’s decoration, which costs 1.7 million dollars, is mostly made in suitably Barbie-style magenta and pink. The serving staff are loosely styled like Barbie dolls, wearing glittery tiaras atop their heads.

The Barbie-themed restaurant has been licensed by the US toy manufacturing giant Mattel and is operated by Taiwan-based Sinlaku.

New Years Celebrations Around the World

City skylines exploded in red, pink, green and blue around the nation as the clock struck midnight. Major cities, including Sydney, London, Dubai and Moscow have marked the start of 2013 with large fireworks displays.

Among the most spectacular celebrations were ones in Sydney, which centered on the harbor bridge, and Dubai, where the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, formed the centrepiece.
