Woman with Mobile Phone in 1928?

George Clarke is an Irish filmmaker. He found a strange scene while watching the DVD extras for Charlie Chaplin’s film “The Circus”.

Ironically, the scene shows a large woman dressed in black with a hat hiding most of her face, with what can only be described as a mobile phone device talking as she walks alone.

So what do you think? If its not a mobile phone, then what is it?
