Mohamed Al Khalji and Mohamed Burbaya took first place in the first ever Red Bull Bar Bahr. The duo controlled the final race on land and sea from the start and left the other teams battling for minor medals. Second place went to Fahd Al Ghanim and Fahd Najb while Hamad Khaled and Abdulamir Haydar rounded the podium. Their winning team prize was a Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra LX.
“We are thrilled with this win. We knew that we were strong but never focused on winning the event. We wanted to reach the final and then fight for the first places. The competition was tough throughout the preliminary races and the final.” Said the duo of Mohamed Al Khalji and Mohamed Burbaya.
The event started early in the morning with scrutineering, where the ATVs and the Jetskis had to pass safety and technical checks. This was followed by drivers briefing where all the drivers received a full safety briefing and instructions on how to operate on the tracks. Drivers also displayed their safety equipment which was approved by the Race Director.
The teams were divided into three groups and the first race took place at 2:00pm. Only the first three teams were qualified from each group. The contestants had to negotiate a challenging track of man-made obstacles such as ramps, bumps and curves. The first quad racer who crossed the finish line ran towards his jetski teammate and tapped his hand in order to start racing on water.
The Quad bike track was designed by famous UAE Motocross rider Mohamed Al Balooshi with the help of famous Qatari quad biker Mohamed Abu Issa who operated as Race Director. The water course was designed and directed by Hussein Dashti, Supervisor of Marine Sports at the Kuwait Sea Sport Club.
The event was organized by Basel Salem Al Sabah Motor Racing Club and was sponsored by Ford Middle East, Kawasaki Kuwait, Road Emergency, Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City and Public Authority for Youth & Sport.
