McDonald’s failed to keep customers coming back in Iceland after an economic crises in late 2008, so the company was forced to shut down its last branch in October 31, 2009.
What you see in the above photo is the last McDonald’s meal sold in Iceland and it is has put on display at the Bus Hostel in Reykjavik. The meal was bought by a man named Hjortur Smarason who donated it to the national museum in Iceland where it was in storage for a year.
The burger and fries sit on display in front of a live webcam, where people all over the world can watch its slow decomposition. Even after six years the meal has still not become rotten or moldy.
Is there a McDonald`s in Iceland in 2018?
