After countless spy shots and teasers, the lid has finally been lifted on the all-new, third generation Mercedes SLK.
The new car features Mercedes’ latest design language ushered in by the latest E-Class and SLS AMG supercar, including the upright nose that features the firm’s three-pointed star logo. The familiar long bonnet and short, stubby tail profile remain.
Extra flair has been added thanks to the vents in the front wings that are supposed to be reminiscent of Mercedes’ roadsters of the 1950s, while the design is brought bang up to date with LED head- and taillights. The hood and wings are now made of aluminium to save weight.
The new SLK will be launched in 200, 250 and 350 variants; the 200 and 250 models are equipped with a 1.8-litre four-pot petrol producing 184bhp and 204bhp. The 200 does the 0-62mph (100kph) dash in seven seconds.
The SLK 350 gets a 3.5-litre V6 petrol, producing a meaty 306bhp and hits 62mph (100kph) from rest in 5.6 seconds, topping out at 155mph (250kph).
Later in the car’s life the SLK will get its first diesel engine, the 201bhp 2.4-litre CDI, and an AMG model with a twin-turbo version of the new petrol V6.
The SLK is expected to arrive later this summer.
Well its nice but it looks like a small SLS.
Looks good! but ya I kinda agree with Mohd its small!!! well at least small for me loool;p
Mohd: Yeah it does.. Thats an SLS wannabe 😉
Sedra: I think its good for girls 🙂
I like the changing tints on the sunroof, the steering wheel and gear r hot! downside: No seats on the back! It reminds me of the BMW Z4
Yeah I like the idea of tinting the glass panels sunroof automatically. They should do that for the rest of the windows 🙂
