Throwable 360° Panoramic Ball Camera

The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera, creates and combines 360 degree photos all with just one shot. The device uses 36 (2 megapixel) cell phone camera modules mounted in a padded sphere to snap a 360 degree panorama. After the device is thrown up into the air, an accelerometer enables it to trigger exposures at the highest point to capture a full 360-degree view, the ball automates everything but the actual throwing. The images can be downloaded using USB and automatically shown in our spherical panoramic viewer. This lets users interactively explore a full representation of the captured environment.

There is no word on the price or when its going to be available in the market, however the ball’s components are very cheap; it could have a retail price of under $100.

  1. Apart from the device being amazing, it comes so cheap! I'd really consider buying one if it was on the $100 – $150 range.
