Lots of speculation and rumors have been going around for months claiming all kinds of crazy things about the iPhone 5. Some sources said that the Oct. 4 date has been selected by Apple to showcase the so-called iPhone 5! I doubt it!
On the other hand, the last stretch before Apple’s big media event on this week, one Apple fan couldn’t wait any longer so he built his very own prototype out of glass and aluminum. The sharp design is based on the leaks and rumors of the iPhone 5.
The process to create this prototype is the same that’s used to create the iPad. The back was machined from a sold block of aluminium, which was treated with glass pearls to get the same slightly rough touch” as the iPad.
The prototype design is thinner and lighter than the iPhone 4, with a wider home button. I think this is the best looking design I’ve seen so far.

You're right. The invitation to the media event says "lets talk iPhone". It doesn't mean that Apple will announce the next generation iPhone.
