The Walkie Talkie tower is reflecting blinding rays of light onto the street below, and has damaged Martin Lindsay’s Jaguar XJ. He parked his Jaguar in central London’s Eastcheap last Thursday and says he was shocked that this could happen to his car. The car was in the ray for just an hour but the panels and a wing mirror were buckled and there was even a smell of burning plastic.
The building’s concave design is like a magnifying glass concentrating a beam of sunlight onto the street. The skyscraper is set to be completed next year.
