The 2013 Ice Festival Harbin in China just kicked off with an incredible towering buildings made entirely from ice! The remarkable ice tower, which is at least 26 meters high and around 20 storeys, is made from blocks taken from the nearby Songhua River. It is one of the main attractions at the annual Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, now in its 40th year.
Thousands of tourists come to the beautiful city, near to the China and Russian border for the festival every year. According to organizers, 10,000 people were employed to complete hundreds of ice and snow structures, some of which measure more than 26 meters tall and 117 meters wide.
