Mercedes-Benz have unveiled details on the new Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4². The off-roader was actually a four-wheeled version of the Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 six-wheeler. What Mercedes did was removed the extra set of wheels, but kept the 6×6’s advanced off-road hardware. It goes on sale early next year.
The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 with 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque is the same as in the regular G500, as is the seven-speed automatic and the triple locking differentials. The chassis is heavily modified, but Mercedes did nothing to the G’s steel frame.
