Starbucks has dropped its name, the word “coffee” from its logo, and taking the Siren out of her ring.
As far as I’m concern, its a step back, and the worst attempt of re-branding. I don’t find this mark to be very strong, it looks empty and it really says nothing about the brand and on that level I don’t think it works well, all they did was zoom in on the Siren!!
Marketing history is littered with logo switches gone bad. When KFC switched its logo to the abbreviation from Kentucky Fried Chicken, false rumors spread that the company no longer used actual chicken in their meals. When Gap tried to change its logo after 20 years, the Internet went into such an uproar that the company decided to stick with the old version.
I always loved the old Starbucks logo. It was a bad decision changing it. Read the outrageous comments on Starbucks Blog, 1, 2. Most of the users disagree with changing the logo.
So what do you think of the new Starbucks logo?
alfal 7ag some of their drinks y3dlonha! Though I love their caramel ice shaken ;p
So I take it that you like the new logo!? 🙂
It doesn't look bad at all! I'd just add the writing of "Starbucks" around it 🙂
7asafa:( i don't like it; it misses its originality and what it's famus for.
Ambrosial: Thats the problem. They took it off.
princess in pink: You got that right 🙂
Bad bad Decision ..
i am sorry to inform u that ur so mistaken
first of all whenever u see the Yellow M of Mcdonald's you dont need to read it u know it
Now starbucks is so popular os anyone who will see the rient will know starbucks so i think they are good in that by the way i am a marketing manager not for starbucks 😉
even if u dont know starbucks at that point u gonna sak what is this cup ur carrying so now we make u talk to other to know what ur carrying so now ur popular because u carry starbucks
Please think outside the box
I respect your point of view.. I don't need it to say Starbucks… We know that Siren is already for Starbucks and I don’t see the point of changing. (Read about Gap)
Thinking outside the box is forming a new perspective, creative and smart thinking. Do you really think by zooming in on the Siren is creative thinking?? 😉
Starbucks has been through a lot over the past few years — with the boycotts claiming they were a Jewish company — and that the woman in the logo was a Jewish queen, etc. Personally, I couldn't care less the religion of the CEO or where he chooses to spend his personal income. Not my business. I can't get through the morning without my trip to Starbucks!
On the other hand, the logo is disappointing. It appears as though someone from their graphic designs department took a nap and forgot to finish his task. It's just empty, incomplete, and doesn't convey the same bold attitude displayed in their coffee.
Well said 🙂
I think too many cottoned onto the logo’s satanic, occult origins/meanings. It’s not just an innocent smiling mermaid.
