BBC wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan comes face-to-face with a fierce 1,000 kg polar bear while he was stationed inside a safety perspex box. Buchanan was inches away from the hungry predator as he takes wildlife shots in Svalbard, in the northern-most region of Arctic Norway.
The filmmaker shows nerves of steel as he endures the lethal polar bear’s 40-minute sustained assault as it desperately hunts for a weak spot in his perspex box. The bear was trying to get hold of Buchanan so she could feed herself and her two young cubs. Watch the video below.
