100 Years of Leica Photography

First Leica 35mm camera 1914

The German camera company, Leica has developed the first functional model of a small-format 35mm camera in 1914. The fact that it could easily be carried in a coat pocket revolutionized photography.

An exhibition in Hamburg “Eyes Wide Open: 100 years of Leica photography” illuminates many aspects of small-format photography showing some 500 works. The exhibition runs through January 11th, 2015 at Deichtorhallen Hamburg in Hamburg, Germany.
