A group of ambitious Kuwaitis has started the first plastic recycling project, called Omniya by providing cardboard recycling bin to collect plastic bottles from people in Kuwait.

Omniya is led by Farah Shabaan, Sanaa Al-Qamlas, and Soad Al-Fozan, which aims to engage the public in a nationwide recycling initiative about the disposal of plastics and to reduce plastic waste.

The amount of post-consumer plastic being recycled barely exist in Kuwait, due in part to the lack of recycling facilities. Thats where Omniya comes in, the projects main goal is to encourage the public to take action and to make recycling part of their lives.

  1. DIY recycling projects are always cool, especially when you can turn your trash into something new and useful. We’ve written posts about ways to recycle before, but it turns out there’s so much that you can do with recycle plastic bottles that they deserved their own post.
