The world’s largest ship elevator at the Three Gorges Dam opened in Yichang City, China. The elevator can lift vessels up to 112 meter (370 ft) and is set to increase the shipping capacity past the dam by six million tons a year.
The 167 meter-high (550 ft) structure is able to lift vessels carrying a weight of up to 3,000 tonnes. Watch the ship elevator in action in the video below.
