Portraits of 4 Sisters Taken Every Year For 36 Years

In 1975, photographer Nicholas Nixon took a portrait of his wife bebe and her 3 sisters, Heather, Mimi and Laurie. They came up with an idea to make it an annual tradition and since then, the Brown sisters had their picture taken every year till 2010.

Their pictures reminded me of the California lake friends portraits.

Five Friends Take Same Photo for 30 Years

Five Friends Take Same Photo for 30 Years

Every five years since 1982 five guys have been meeting at the California lake and taking the same photo. They sit on the same bench and in the same order. Left to right: John Wardlaw, Mark Rumer, Dallas Burney, John Molony, John Dickson.

The idea came up five years later when Wardlaw decided it would be fun to recreate the photograph they’d taken in 1982, and that’s where it all started. They have been coming to the same place ever since.
