Yolkr: The Egg Yolk Separator

Entrepreneur Hamish Dobbie from New Zealand has created the Yolkr, its an egg separator that can hygienically suck the yolk from an egg white without any mess.

The appliance is made from plastic which has been approved by the Food Standards Agency. The Yolkr is quick and easy to clean by hand. It can be simply broken into 2 parts. Of course, it’s dishwasher safe too.

The Yolkr was launched as a Kickstarter campaign back in January and raised more than three times the target amount. It is now available for £18, plus shipping, and comes in six colors.

The Truth Behind Calorie Labels

Casey Neistat from the New York Times took five items from chain restaurants and convenience stores in New York City to compared the actual calories of the food to what’s listed on the nutrition facts.

Neistat grabbed a tofu sandwich, a muffin, a Subway sandwich, a Starbucks Frappuccino and a Chipotle burrito. Then he brought the items to food scientists at the New York Obesity Nutrition Research Center at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center to test each food’s caloric content.

Watch the short video on calories below to find out what each company’s excuse for having more calories is.

Salad Boutique New Italian Menu

Salad Boutique New Italian Menu

The Salad Boutique is a place that is easy to miss with all these chain restaurants that continues to open at the The Avenues. But this restaurant still maintains its unique style as being the first ever restaurant that specializes in serving salads as a main course, with over 70 different types of salads, in addition to the other main courses.

I was invited by the Salad Boutique to try out their new menu. It was an Italian menu that includes, Minestrone Soup, Arangini, lasagna, and of course a two kinds of salads, the Mediterranean Pasta Salad and Arugula Salad.

I started out with the Minestrone Soup and the Arangini (Italian Rice Balls) as an appetizer, which was quite tasty. I didn’t like Minestrone Soup that much because I’m not a vegetable person. Then the main dish was lasagna with crispy melted cheese on top, including the ground beef and tomato sauce. The crispy cheese tasted even better than it looks, the cheese added some additional texture and flavor to the lasagna.

Overall, the food was tasty, the quality was very good, and looking at the menu price it’s fair and reasonable. I give this restaurant an 8 out of 10.
